MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 7, 2026 — Field Nation, the leading on-demand labor platform for technology field service, today announced new and enhanced capabilities that enable companies to build and operate on-demand field service labor programs at scale based on their standards. The platform now brings together access to on-demand labor, predictive quality, program automation, performance intelligence, and new engagement options.

These capabilities reflect a fundamental shift in where field service work happens and what it requires. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. businesses now operate about 3 million more locations than they did in 2008, when Field Nation was founded. Those locations are increasingly spread out as businesses follow population growth to the outer edges of major metros. Across that larger commercial footprint, retailers, restaurants, banks, and healthcare providers are opening, closing, and updating sites. Field service teams also work across a broader range of technologies, from traditional IT equipment to A/V, security, and other connected systems. The result is work that is more varied, more dispersed, and less predictable.

As demand shifts between markets and projects ramp up or down, companies need labor capacity that can flex with the work.

“On-demand labor can now play a much bigger role in how companies plan for growth and deliver for their customers,” said Mynul Khan, founder and CEO of Field Nation. “Because of our multi-year investments, companies have the standards, visibility, and control to build on-demand labor into their most important field service programs.”

The Field Nation platform includes several new and enhanced capabilities that work together to coordinate execution, measure performance, and support technicians across scaled labor programs:

  • Quality and performance intelligence. Field Nation has invested in how technician performance is measured, understood, and matched to each buyer’s requirements. The Provider Success Score gives companies greater confidence in technician selection across entire programs, while helping high-performing independent technicians build stronger reputations and grow their businesses over time.
  • Program infrastructure and management. Field Nation has built the infrastructure companies need to establish and maintain consistent standards across hundreds or thousands of jobs and markets. Companies can define technician qualifications, service territories, pricing, workflows, and work requirements at the program level, creating a more repeatable and governable way to operate on-demand labor at scale.
  • Automation and orchestration. Field Nation has invested in automating the repeatable work required for users to source, match, dispatch, coordinate, and measure field service activity,  with an emphasis on break/fix services. Combined with a nationwide marketplace and performance intelligence, these capabilities help companies respond to changing demand without increasing coordination effort at the same rate.
  • Broader workforce and technical capabilities. Field Nation has expanded the platform beyond short-term independent technician work and traditional IT use cases. Investments in a temporary W-2 employee solution, along with expanded coverage across technologies such as audio-visual systems, give companies more ways to use on-demand labor across different work types, engagement models, and technical requirements.

Together, these investments make on-demand labor a more strategic component of the modern field service labor strategy, complementing W-2 employees and strategic third parties with flexible workforce capacity that can be deployed and governed at scale.

Interface Systems illustrates how on-demand capacity fits into a broader field service labor program. The company combines AI-powered technologies with expert remote video monitoring by trained intervention specialists from Interactive Security Operations Centers. Interface protects more than 50,000 locations for restaurants, retailers, car washes, and commercial businesses through interactive remote video monitoring, managed alarms and access control, video intelligence, and managed network and voice.

Interface Systems uses on-demand labor to extend capacity during demand spikes, after-hours requests, and critical service calls. Interface retains responsibility for technician selection, service standards, and customer outcomes, and uses performance results to build a preferred technician bench.

“Field Nation extends our capacity, but capacity alone is not the solution. Our operating model is what ensures we match the right technician to the work, provide a clear scope, and hold each assignment to Interface standards,” said Esther Spurgeon, Vice President, Field Services at Interface Systems.

With the platform’s expanded scope, Field Nation has refreshed its brand and website to highlight the role of on-demand labor in a modern field service strategy.
