Windows 7 Sunset

Windows 7 Has Security Risks

The time is here: Windows 7 is officially reaching the end of its life, which means a big change for businesses still running on the program.

As of January 14, 2020, Microsoft will stop supporting Windows 7 in favor of it’s newer operating system, Windows 10. This means many companies need to update their systems or they’ll expose themselves to security risks. It’s important for businesses to work on upgrading their system before this date, though, otherwise, they run the risk of losing support entirely.

This isn’t the first time that a big switch affected businesses worldwide. In 2014, Microsoft ended support for its Windows XP program that impacted billions of computers. According to ITNow, many businesses delay the adoption of newer programs “due to the expense and the time-consuming work to update and upgrade computers, particularly for small and midsize businesses.” But, it’s important to upgrade for several reasons, and security is only one of them.

Upgrading to Windows 10

Sunsetting Windows 7 means most computers need to upgrade to Windows 10, and while this change may be inconvenient to some, the newer operating system comes with several benefits, chief of which important security updates. The Windows 10 programs are also faster and include an upgraded user interface that provides even more tools for employees and businesses to take advantage of.
