Finding Qualified, Skilled Technicians

Managing a blended workforce of employees and independent contractors to get work done nationwide depends on one thing: Finding qualified technicians.

Finding the right technicians, in the right place, at the right time is the key to long-term growth.

So how can you do that faster, with less margin for error? We have a solution for you: Field Nation’s Matching Algorithm.

(Hear from Alex Smith, the man who led the matching algorithm initiative in the video below.)

Field Nation’s Matching Algorithm

Our algorithm pulls from 10 years of data to find the best service provider for your needs. You’ll have access to our entire marketplace of skilled technicians and we’ll help you narrow it down by offering our top 3 recommendations right away. These recommendations are based on proximity, their platform rating, and their experience level.

Technicians in our marketplace enter a variety of data about themselves into their profile like the equipment they own, certifications they have, and skills they’ve gained. All of these empower you to make the best choice for each work order so you can be confident they can do the job right.

Badges

Another way to find the right technician is the use of badges to identify important skills and information. This includes background checks and drug tests as well as advanced certifications. You can hover over these badges in the platform to get even more detailed information.

Rating

The marketplace rating is a combined score that a given technician earned based on their work history. Ratings above 4.8 are considered ideal as this demonstrates a technician who consistently provides quality work.

Our Ranking Rule

The default ranking rule in the Field Nation platform assigns point values for behavioral and historical data to bring the highest ranking providers to the top of your list. The greater the point value, the better they fit our ranking criteria. You can also create your own ranking rules with our platform tools under the red “NEW!” next to the selection rule dropdown.

Sorting Information in Our Marketplace

Our algorithm is a robust tool, but it makes it easier for you to find the right technician to fulfill your work.

Our Matching Algorithm Recommendations

Under the provider tabs, technicians are separated based on their relationship to you. For example, the nearby tab ranks technicians based on their distance from the work order. Our “worked with” tab indicates if a technician has done work for you before.

If you want to get more specific with your technician sorting, you can even create what we call “Talent Pools” that allow you to make a list of your preferred technicians. This helps you identify who you want to work within the future, and you can send work orders only to that pool of technicians if you choose. Just keep in mind, the first technician from that pool that wants the work will automatically receive it, so only choose technicians you know and trust to be in your Talent Pool.

Make the Most of Your Matches

All these tools give you more control and visibility into who is representing your company on-site. We make it easy for you to find the right people, in the right place to execute your work. The more you use these tools, the easier it will be to find great matches in the future.
