SCHEDULE MANAGEMENT

Better schedule control, clarity and accuracy.

Double-booking prevention for Providers.

In our research, we found that 25% of Provider backouts were due to accidental double-booking resulting from schedule conflicts. We focused first on the prevention side of the problem, by improving the app workflow.

 
Providers can now access a Calendar View when requesting or accepting work orders to ensure new work orders don’t overlap with existing work orders. If any part of the schedule overlaps, Providers will receive a warning along with the ability to edit the start time of range-schedule work orders.

Introducing a new schedule accuracy workflow.

Up to 40% of work orders on the Field Nation marketplace have an unofficial schedule change, meaning Buyers and Providers agree to a different schedule than the one shown on the work order, but neither party updates the schedule in the platform.

 
To ensure the work order start time is accurately reflected in the platform, Providers will now see a check-in interrupt if a timeliness issue is detected. Buyers will get the Provider’s schedule change request, and must accept or deny the change before the work order is closed out, ensuring a decision is made and reflected on the work order.

Creating clarity with fewer schedule types.

Previously, there were two different schedule types that both implied that a specific arrival time was needed by the Provider. But only one of those schedule types impacted Provider Timeliness Rates. To reduce confusion, we eliminated the Fixed schedule type and are now only offering the Hard Start schedule type when a specific arrival time is required.

DELIVERABLE UPLOADS

A simplified process for proof of service.

73% reduction in upload failures.

Deliverables are a critical part of the field service workflow, but previously, the process for Providers to upload deliverables was slow and frustrating. As a result, Providers were capturing photos using their phones but uploading them at home using their desktops, causing a work order closeout delay.

We overhauled the workflow in the mobile app to align deliverable uploads with tasks, implemented a best-in-class experience for editing and annotations, and enabled automatic re-tries for upload failures. With these updates, we’ve seen a 73% reduction in upload failures.
