Our 2024 Q4 New & Next webinar focused on two key areas that impact technician success: reliability metrics and schedule management. Field Nation’s product leaders shared how these features work together to help technicians win more work and grow their business on the marketplace.
Summary
As the Field Nation marketplace grows, reliability has emerged as the top factor in technician success. Through extensive research and technician feedback, Field Nation has identified opportunities that may help technicians build stronger reputations and win more work. Our product leaders introduced several updates that make it easier to track performance metrics, manage schedules effectively, and stand out in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
Understanding reliability metrics (8:39)
Field Nation’s new Provider Match experience for buyers now prominently displays key reliability metrics companies use to make assignment decisions. Successful technicians on the marketplace typically maintain timeliness rates of 90% or higher and cancellation rates of 5% or lower.
Technicians can track these metrics through the Business Dashboard in the mobile app for real-time visibility into their performance. In the new Match experience, buyers can filter their technicians’ lists based on these metrics, making them crucial for winning work on the marketplace. The new system focuses on recent performance, using a rolling 30-day window that allows technicians to quickly demonstrate improvements in their metrics.
Enhanced schedule management tools (18:00)
To improve reliability and reduce scheduling issues, Field Nation transitioned from Fixed schedules to Hard Start schedules in June 2024. This change created clearer expectations between companies and technicians about arrival times.
New conflict management tools automatically alert technicians when work orders overlap, while an enhanced calendar view helps spot potential conflicts before they occur. The platform has also streamlined the process for requesting schedule changes by routing updates directly to work order managers through the platform instead of requiring phone calls or texts.
Future product improvements (25:39)
Based on technician feedback, Field Nation is developing a new arrival window schedule type that offers more flexibility while maintaining clear expectations. The proposed system will allow technicians to arrive within specified windows and set specific start times within those windows. This enhancement addresses common scheduling challenges, particularly for work orders that may extend beyond initial time windows.
Key takeaways
These product enhancements reflect our ongoing commitment to technician success. Early feedback shows technicians experiencing fewer scheduling conflicts and greater efficiency in managing their work orders. The product team continues to gather user input to guide future improvements that will help technicians maintain strong reliability metrics and grow their business on the platform.
